Brevard Libraries eBooks Exceed 500,000 Downloads

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- Brevard County Libraries' online library platform OverDrive has achieved 500,000 downloads or checkouts from the eBook and eAudio collections since OverDrive’s introduction in September 2011.

OverDrive is easily accessible via the libraries’ website at and is available to any Brevard County resident with a valid library card. New media items are added monthly and can be downloaded to your mobile device or to your laptop. OverDrive is open 24/7 and downloaded media is automatically returned at the end of its borrowing period.

In January 2014, the eLibrary for Kids was added to OverDrive. This provides children and young adults a place to browse the ebook collection specific to their interests and reading levels. It is also a great place for parents to ‘borrow and read’ to their children on their browser if they can’t get to the library.

OverDrive and Audiofile have partnered this summer for the SYNC Program offering two free Young Adult audiobooks, one classic title and one current title that share similar themes, each week starting May 7. Once downloaded, the users can keep the titles for as long as they like.
